Day One |

Start your Journey in Johannesburg

Welcome to Johannesburg, the bustling metropolis and a South African powerhouse.  Upon arrival at O R Tambo International Airport, you will be met and transferred to the Four Seasons Westcliff Hotel for one night.

If you are arriving by private jet, we can arrange for a helicopter transfer from Lanseria International Airport (optional). Relax at the hotel or why not take one of our optional excursions such as a visit to the moving Apartheid Museum or delve into life in South Africa's largest township, Soweto.

This evening, relax at the Four Seasons Westcliff and enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Four Seasons The Westcliff

Four Seasons Westcliff feels like a chic hillside village, with nine sun-splashed villas woven with courtyards, fountains and gardens.

Take a ride up the glass elevator for dinner and drinks at View, meet friends for a traditional braai (barbecue) at Flames, or simply step out onto your room’s balcony to enjoy a quiet moment as you admire the endless canopy of jacaranda trees that stretches out before you, which, come springtime, will blanket our northern suburb streets in a sea of purple blooms.

Day Two |

Skeleton Coast

After breakfast, a transfer by helicopter directly from the Four Seasons Westcliff to Lanseria Airport to meet your private jet for your flight to Windhoek, the Capital of Namibia.

Upon arrival in Windhoek and completing customs and immigration formalities, you will transfer to a light aircraft for your flight to Mowe Bay Airstrip in the Skeleton Coast.

A transfer by four wheel drive vehicle to one of the world's most exciting new lodges - Shipwreck Lodge - your home in the desert for two nights.

Dinner most probably al-fresco this evening.

Shipwreck Lodge

The innovative design of the lodge echoes the ghostly remains of the derelict ships — pale wooden frames jut from the sands at striking angles.

Inside, however, the rooms are spacious and modern, with generous windows to allow you to drink in the views of this pristine swathe of wilderness. The rooms are solar powered, though there are wood burning stoves to stave off the Atlantic morning chill. The central area of the lodge also mimics the remains of a long-wrecked boat, but the interior boasts a wealth of comfortable seating and images illustrating the coast’s deadly history. Wide windows and a wrap-around deck allow guests to admire uninterrupted views of the rippled dunes and crashing waves beyond.

Day Four |

Masai Mara

After breakfast we cross the African Continent flying first to Windhoek to meet our private jet then on to Nairobi and a hop into the Masai Mara.  We touch down at Angama Mara's airstrip.

Maasai Mara, also known as Masai Mara, and locally simply as The Mara, is a large game reserve in Narok County, Kenya, contiguous with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. It is named in honor of the Maasai people (the ancestral inhabitants of the area) and their description of the area when looked at from afar: "Mara" means "spotted" in the local Maasai language of Maa, due to the many trees which dot the landscape.

It is world-renowned for its exceptional populations of lions, leopards, cheetahs and elephant, and the annual migration of wildebeest, zebra, Thomson's gazelle and other antelope, to and from the Serengeti every year known as the Great Migration.

We check-in at the stunning Angama Mara camp for 2 nights.

Angama Mara

A remarkable safari lodge inspired by the Swahili word for ‘suspended in mid-air’. Located high above the floor of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, The Lodge overlooks Kenya’s Maasai Mara, considered by many as the loveliest game reserve on the continent.  Angama Mara’s elegant and classical tented suites all boast breath-taking views and 11m wide floor-to-ceiling glass fronts.

  • Accommodation in All Inclusive (excluding French champagne & Reserve wines)

  • Emergency medical evacuation

Masai Mara National Reserve Kenya

Day Five |

Masai Mara

The children were very young, men and women all seemed to be of the same age. There were no old people. They all seemed to be our greatest friends […] big and straight in their brown skins, with their massive hanging braids, their faces dyed in brick-red, leaning on their spears, following us with looks and smiling”. E.H.

Named in honour of the Maasai people who call this corner of Africa home, the Mara is world renowned for its exceptional populations of lion, leopard, cheetah, herds-a-thousand-strong of buffalo, the rare black rhino and a thriving elephant population.

West of the Mara River, beneath the Oloololo escarpment and bordered by Tanzania to the south lies the jewel of this great reserve: the Mara Triangle. Not only is this the most productive part of the entire Serengeti-Mara ecosystem in terms of grass nutrition, but it is also spectacularly scenic. The huge grassy plains are dotted with widely spaced Balanites trees that give the landscape an almost manicured look, which together with the steep-sided escarpment and broad Mara River, provides a breath-taking backdrop for wildlife photographers.

ACTIVITIES INCLUDED IN THE EXPERIENCE

  • All Guided safari in Mara triangle

  • Guided walking safaris on Rift Valley escarpment

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Site of the annual wildebeest migration

  • Iconic landscapes of open savanna

  • Maasai cultural encounters
