SOUTH AFRICA

South Africa

A World in One Country, The Rainbow Nation, South Africa has been bestowed with a number of colourful descriptions over the years!  A country with a painful past yet one which embraces the visitor resulting in a love affair that will last for decades.  A melting pot of cultures, a kaleidoscope of contrasts and a wealth of experience combine to make South Africa one of the most fulfilling travel destinations on earth and rightly so.

Getting your Bearings

The first step to planning your holiday is to understand the regions and how to get there.  From the UK, the only Southern African country with direct links to the United Kingdom is South Africa with flights to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban from London.  Many of our guests prefer to travel indirectly from Regional Airports in the UK.  Airlines such as Ethiopian, Emirates, Qatar, Turkish, KLM and Lufthansa offer great connections to a number of Southern African cities.  Our Travel Team are on hand to plan the best route for you.

Where to Go

Your Gateways to South Africa are Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban when flying from the United Kingdom. From here you can take convenient connecting flights to secondary cities such as Nelspruit and Hoedspruit (for Safaris in the East of the Country), Port Elizabeth and George (for the Garden Route). South Africa is also a great country for self-drive holidays.    Contact our Travel Team to get the ball rolling.

The Hector Pietersen Museum with Antoinette Sithole

Antoinette Sithole is the sister to the late Hector Pieterson, who was killed by police in the June 16th, 1976 uprisings where students were protesting against being taught in the medium of Afrikaans. Hector Pieterson became a symbol for the uprisings as he was the youngest to be killed. Antoinette witnessed his death, and was the only survivor in the famous photo as seen on the left.

Join Antoinette Sithole for a half day private guided tour to learn more.
