Barcelona is hugely popular as an embarkation or disembarkation point for cruises and many of our clients love to spend a few nights before and after their cruises. In addition, we always recommend arriving at least the night before your cruise departure just in case there are any delays or cancellations that could cause you to miss your cruise vacation.
Deciding where to stay in a City full of choice can be daunting. One of our firm favourites is the H10 Montcada Hotel - located in the city's Gothic District. For a start, we really like H10 hotels, for the simple reason that we like a bit of trendiness when we travel and to stay in interesting hotels ourselves. The H10 Montcada certainly ticks those boxes.
Arriving at 2am after a long journey, its always nice to be met by a smiling face and this was no exception. The hotel is only 10 minutes from the port and there are plenty of sights to see and shops within an easy walking distance from the hotel.
The lobby is warm and inviting and I was soon up to my room which was a stunning street facing corner room with a tiny balcony, perfect for a morning espresso while waking up to the noises of the city. The rooms are small but nicely appointed with great bathrooms. Mine was a Deluxe Room with Nespresso Machine, loads of "goodies" and great amenities in the bathroom.
I'd opted to include breakfast in my rate, served in the hotels cellar! A friendly lady met me and escorted me to my table. Breakfast is buffet style with a great choice of sweet and savory as well as hot options to please British palates! A great way to get your day off to a good start. I had a wander around the fascinating neighbourhood in the morning and, as I could only board my ship early afternoon, decided to pop back to the hotel and take advantage of one of its most stunning features, its roof top deck with whirl pool. Fortunately I had it all to myself and it was a great place to sit and relax with sweeping views over the rooftops to the Sagrada Familia.
After enjoying the morning sun and spa bath, it was time to check out before hailing a taxi to the port which was around EUR 30.00 from the hotel.
All in all, a perfect choice for a night before or after your cruise in Barcelona!
